Sanja's Spanish Lessons
Sanja's Spanish Lessons
About Sanja
Sanja graduated from Saint Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, North Macedonia. Subsequently, she worked for three years as a Spanish teacher in her native town of Kratovo. Then, in 2013 Sanja was awarded a full Erasmus Mundus Action 2 scholarship to study for a Master’s degree at the University of Granada, Spain. This scholarship was offered to only a few students from different academic backgrounds on a national level.
A significant part of the course in Granada was concerned with teaching Spanish as a Foreign language, while other modules required an in-depth study of the more formal aspects of Spanish. Sanja wrote her thesis on the use of the subjunctive verb form in Spanish language.
Meanwhile, immersing herself in Granada’s everyday life meant that Sanja was, at the same time, consistently exposed to Spanish language and culture. This combination of academic study and an involvement in day-to-day use of language has given Sanja the perfect foundation to be able to tailor her classes according to the requirements of her students.
Since 2015, Sanja has lived in the city of Málaga where she has been teaching Spanish to students of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds, always offering the style of class best suited to her students’ needs, from everyday conversation through to formal exam preparation.
Her extensive work with native English-speaking students has allowed her to reflect upon Spanish language characteristics in comparison with their English language counterparts, an experience which has proved very useful in her classes.
Sanja has translated short literary works, as well as texts of a more practical nature from and into Spanish. She has also done proofreading in Spanish and Macedonian.
